Diagnosis of Sleep Apnea
An evidence base pertinent to diagnostic testing and screening of adult sleep apnea patients. The report was developed via a systematic review of the literature published between 1980 to November 1, 1997.
Disability and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
An evidence base on the disability in persons with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) was developed from published literature on how best to measure, monitor, and treat disability in CFS patients. The systematic review was performed on English language literature published from 1988 to 2001. Interventional or observational studies of adults with CFS were eligible if they reported measures of both disability and employment. A qualitative synthesis of results relating impairment measures to employment was performed.
Criteria for the Referral of Patients with Epilepsy
Based on a systematic literature review and a collaborative effort with the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, this report addresses health care resources utilized in the care of patients newly diagnosed with epilepsy.
Management of Breast Disease
Based on a systematic literature review and a collaborative effort with the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, this report addresses the recommendations for evaluation of women with breast symptoms, abnormal mammograms, and specific abnormal breast biopsy findings. Additionally, it will review the indications for sentinel node biopsies and the costs associated with diagnosing and managing the above breast diseases.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Parkinson's
Based on a systematic literature review and a collaborative effort with the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, this report will address current areas of uncertainty regarding the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's Disease.
